North of Fourth

A few months ago, I went by this mural in the mornings while it was being constructed on a brick wall at Market and Lord Nickens Street. I thought that the painter was extremely dedicated to be there every morning. Then a few weeks ago I walked this route on the west side of the street and had a good laugh on myself.  Take a look. This is a very beautiful and interesting mural/mosaic/trompe l'oeil.  The Gazette ran an article about it back in November with more details.

The mosaic tiles were installed by Anthony Owens, and painted by Jack Pabis, both of whom are Frederick artists.
The realism is astounding and the only time you might not be quite so convinced is when the sun is shining at a certain point in the morning, you can see the reflections at the edges of the bricks.
Even looking dead on, hard to tell that this mug and ladder are not real. Only the sun reveals the secret when you are standing close by.
