How Many Days Does it Take a Short Sale to Settle?

An important issue for buyers and sellers is how long distressed properties stay in process, first while being on the market, and then while the contract is waiting to settle.  RBI released their Mid-Atlantic region Distressed Property Report which describes various indicators for short sales and foreclosures.

The graph below shows that the number of days on market during these phases has improved dramatically for both regular sales and foreclosures from 2011 to 2012. But days on market has increased for short sales in 2012. Later in the week, I'll post figures for Frederick County specifically.
