Happy Spring Everyone!
It's a beautiful time of year in the City, and a busy time too! We're gearing up for a summer full of activities. Bike to Work Day is coming up on May 16th and my goal is even more participation than last year, and there is still time to sign up! We are also looking forward to the kick-off of Downtown Frederick's Alive at 5 events and the beginning of the event season for Celebrate Frederick, including the garden tour, summer concerts in Baker Park and our 4th of July Celebration. We also have lots of summer activities, camps, and classes offered through our Parks and Rec Department. 2014 marks the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War so we'll be involved with events throughout the year to honor this anniversary. At First Saturday on July 5th, we will highlight General Jubal Early's Ransom demand of $200,000 paid to the Confederate Army to save Frederick City. You can learn more about the ransom and join in on games and activities that day to help us reenact this important piece of Frederick's history. Lastly, we are finishing up the FY15 Proposed Budget discussions. On Tuesday, May 13th at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Annex building, we will conclude the process with an open budget discussion. The adoption of the FY15 Proposed Budget is scheduled for the Thursday, May 15th Public Meeting at 7:00 PM in the Boardroom of City Hall. The Tax Rate is also scheduled to be set at that meeting. Both meetings are open to the public and public comment is always encouraged.
Feel free to contact me or members
of the Board of Aldermen - our information can be found on the left
side of the City E-News. We are here to serve you!
