"Talk to the Mayor Tuesdays"
|
|
Mayor McClement has set aside the 4th Tuesday of each month from 2-6 p.m.
to meet informally with citizens to discuss topics or issues of their
choice. The Mayor's office is located in City Hall at 101 North Court
St. No appointment is necessary and citizens are met with on a first
come; first serve basis. The next "Talk to the Mayor Tuesday" will be September 23rd from 2-6 p.m.

Frederick's Farmers' Market Festival - October 4th

 The City of Frederick Parks & Recreation Department will host Frederick's Farmers Market Festival on Saturday, October 4th, 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.
along Carroll Creek Linear Park. Farm fresh items, produce, homemade
& handmade goods, crafts, local beers & wines, local bands
performing.

UMD Partners with City
|
|

The University of Maryland's National Center for Smart Growth is
partnering with the City in a new initiative called the Partners for
Action Learning in Sustainability (PALS).
The official kick-off for PALS will be Wednesday, September 24th at 3:00 p.m.
in the Boardroom of City Hall during the Workshop meeting. The public
will have the opportunity to hear from UMD representatives and elected
officials. The meeting is open to the public. Visit PALS and Frederick for more information.

Tree Identification Program Planned for Citizens
|

Frederick
City residents are invited to participate in tree identification and
inventory training sessions, the first stage of a larger urban tree

DPW Projects in the Works

The Department of Public Works would like residents to be aware of the
following upcoming projects in September. For more information call DPW

Water main replacements are scheduled for:
- Dill Ave. from N. Bentz St. to Upper College Terr.
- Rosemont Ave. from Upper College Terr. to W. 2nd St.
- Canberra Ct., Manor Ct., Loganberry Ct., Birmingham Ct., Evergreen Ct.
- Streets will also be milled & over laid.

- Wilson Place from Rosemont Ave. to 7th St.

Frederick Municipal Airport
|
|
There
is a lot going on at the Frederick Municipal Airport. Progress is
continuing on a primary runway extension project. Assistance through
grant funding made available by the Maryland Aviation Administration and
Federal Aviation Administration has made this project possible.
Fly-in Scheduled - Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) 75th Anniversary Fly-In will be held on Saturday, October 4th. Over 400 aircraft are expected. Free & open to the public. For more information visit AOPA.

The William Talley Fitness Center is pleased to announce the arrival of
5 new Matrix treadmills and 3 new Matrix ellipticals. All are
equipment with iPod docks and operate with touch screens.

Halloween in Baker Park.

Some commercial businesses in Downtown Frederick have purchased "Shop
& Park" passes for customers visiting their establishments. The
passes can be used in exchange for hourly parking in all City parking
garages.

iSpires App for Citizens

This
app allows citizens to quickly send messages to the Mayor and Board of
Aldermen, report code enforcement complaints, potholes and other
problems in the City.
"iSpires" is free and available for download on the City website

Gold Star Pins worn by surviving military family members represents the
service and sacrifice of fallen service members. From WWI to the
present, including service members who lost their lives while assigned
