City Planting Forest Buffers
Educational Projects Available

|
The
City of Frederick is currently planting forest buffers along Rock
Creek, Carroll Creek and other streams in the Upper and Lower Monocacy
River Watershed, a tributary basin of the Upper Potomac River.
In
2000, MD DNR determined these areas were inadequate in terms of forest
buffers and rated them as moderate to severe. The City has identified
52.8 acres of stream buffer planting necessary along 2.9 miles of Rock
Creek, Carroll Creek and other City streams.
Educational
projects are available for career students and volunteer groups. For
more information, contact Tom Rippeon, City Arborist, at 301-600-1233 or email Tom Rippeon.
