September 11th Observance
"Never Forget"

The City of Frederick will hold a brief 9-11 Observance on Friday, September 11 at 8:30 a.m. on the front steps of City Hall. In the event of inclement weather, the observance will be moved inside City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend.

In The Street- For over 30 years, Market Street has come alive for IN THE STREET. Join the fun from 11 am until 5 pm with food, fun, and entertainment.
The festivities continue into the evening in the Carroll Creek Amphitheater for those 21 and over from 5-9 pm. $5.00 cover charge.

Talk to the Mayor Tuesday - September 29

Mayor McClement sets aside time each month to meet informally with citizens to discuss topics or issues of their choice.
Due to a change in the schedule, the September Talk to the Mayor will be held on the 5th Tuesday, September 29th from 2-6 p.m.

The City of Frederick's next Freecycle Roundup will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Hill Street Park, 100 Hill Street. Several non-profit organizations will be on hand to take donated items.
***Limited pickup of bulk items is available on a first come, first serve basis. ALL Pickups MUST be scheduled. City residents interested in scheduling a pickup should contact Ben at 301-600-2039 by Friday, September 18th.

The City is undertaking a Small Area Plan study of the East Street Corridor. The purpose of this Plan is to further the efforts of East Frederick Rising and the Vision Plan that group has created as well as build upon other studies and plans in this area.

News from the Frederick Police Department

 A swearing in ceremony for Frederick Police Chief Ed Hargis took place on August 28th in Hodson Auditorium on the Hood College Campus. Chief Hargis officially assumed command of the Frederick Police Department's force of 144 authorized sworn officers and 48 civilians on July 30th.

Parallel Parking - The FPD is witnessing an increase in improper parallel parking according to Article 13-26 titled Parallel Parking. Failure to park correctly could result in a $20 fine .

The City of Frederick's NACs initiative needs your help! The NAC is a forum for residents to become involved in identifying and recommending changes to improve your neighborhood. Each NAC meets to discus issues, concerns, and neighborhood projects.
